Abstract

Leading Korean telecom operators KT (Korean Telecom), announced that it would embrace Marvell G.now technology based on G.hn while cooperating with Korean Ubiquoss to enable FTTH (Fiber To The Home) class Gigabit broadband services for MDU (Multi-Dwelling Units) buildings. The Marvell-KT cooperation has demonstrated that G.hn standard is not merely used for connected homes but can extend reach to enhance broadband access services. While European and US telecom operators prioritize G.fast, some Asian operators with high fiber coverage have looked to G.hn for lower cost rollout and easier deployment than FTTH. This report outlines the Marvell-KT cooperation and examines expected impact on the future of G.hn.
